for those of you who did not hear the story of my sweet baby brother, here it is.
Rylan Drew. 8lbs(exactly)
and 21in long.
The doctors said he was a miracle baby but all babies are
miracles right? He had two knots in his cord, with his heart rate dropping the
nurses started getting antsy and prepped my mom for surgery, but by some
God-given miracle he was born quite healthy and quite screaming like a girl.
Storming into the hospital, as is our usual entrance to such
things, we saw him lying in his mother’s arms sleeping like….well…a baby. We
took turns holding him by youngest to oldest, I hate to admit, I started
cheating Justin out of his turn, but he would have none of that. Rylan was good
to us as we switched around passing him from one person to the next, kissing
his chubby cheeks, talking to him, and yet he remained completely calm, almost
like he’s been used to it for years and not just one day. after we really
started talking, raising our voices and laughing I watched him slowly open his
eyelids, almost if he wasn’t sure it was safe, and yet, he just had to see who
was behind the voices he had listened to 24/7 in the past nine months. I
started picking up some of his personality traits a little and one thing he so
lovingly inherited from the rest of us, he is extremely curious (or nosy, but I
prefer to call it naturally curious). When I started burping him, he tired his
absolute best to lift his wobbly head to peek over my shoulders, of course
failing because of his inability to hold his head correctly. The one of many
things I adore about him is how he listens to you, whenever you start talking
to him; he looks you strait in the eye and clings to every word. Now there is
this one little thing about him that will probably keep me awake at night and
make me want to throw the pillow over my head and cringe. that one thing is the moment you unwrap him to change his
diaper or if any time his feet come the least bit uncovered, he starts
screeching like a girl, not wah- wah like a baby should do, no sir, he screams
like a girl who saw a snake in the yard! But no matter what he always get a ton
of kisses and lots (and lots) of love.
He finds his thumb quite good:) (although my mom's not to thrilled about it ;) )
